LJSPrettyRecklessBookCover6x9_MEDIUM

We were supposed to be best friends

But turned out to be worst enemies…

Penn

They say revenge is a dish best served cold.

I’d had four years to stew on what Daria Followhill did to me, and now my heart is completely iced.

I took her first kiss.

She took the only thing I loved.

I was poor.

She was rich.

The good thing about circumstances? They can change. Fast.

Now, I’m her parents’ latest shiny project.

Her housemate. Her tormentor. The captain of the rival football team she hates so much.

Yeah, baby girl, say it—I’m your foster brother.

There’s a price to pay for ruining the only good thing in my life, and she’s about to shell out some serious tears.

Daria Followhill thinks she is THE queen. I’m about to prove to her that she’s nothing but a spoiled princess.

Daria

Everyone loves a good-old, unapologetic punk.

But being a bitch? Oh, you get slammed for every snarky comment, cynical eye roll, and foot you put in your adversaries’ way.

The thing about stiletto heels is that they make a hell of a dent when you walk all over the people who try to hurt you.

In Penn Scully’s case, I pierced his heart until he bled out, then left it in a trash can on a bright summer day.

Four years ago, he asked me to save all of my firsts for him.

Now he lives across the hall, and there’s nothing I want more than to be his last everything.

His parting words when he gave me his heart were that nothing in this world is free.

Now? Now he is making me pay.

Excerpt:

“I don’t want you transferring into my school,” I hiss out. Melody would gladly file a transfer request, and Principal Prichard would salivate over the chance to snatch him up for our football team.

“That won’t be a problem. You guys suck so much ass, you have shit-breath.”

“Still smells better than poverty. You’re poor, right? Your sister was just bullshitting about being rich.”

When someone hits me with a stick, I run over them with a tank. I’m so mean to him I want to throw up. I hate this part of being me. The striking harder at all costs part.

“Just to make things clear.” I put the brush down, batting my lashes. “You’re not my step-sibling, foster brother, or a part of the family. You’re a stray dog. Last of the litter, most unlikely to be adopted, and a charity case.”

Penn takes a step toward me, and my heart is fighting its way out of my ribcage. The closer he gets, the more I realize that my heart might succeed. Penn’s eyes remind me of a snake’s. Mesmerizing, but inhuman altogether. They weren’t like that before.

His scent messes with my head. I want to reach out and caress his face. Kiss his wounds better. Beg for forgiveness. Curse him. Push him away. Cry on his shoulder for what we’ve done. For how it ended. For what we became afterwards, because I’m full of crap and he is totally empty.

We ruined ourselves the day of our first kiss.

Penn looks down at me. Time stops. It feels like the world is losing gravity, falling into a bottomless depth in space when he clasps my chin with his thumb and finger, lifting my head up. I can’t breathe. I’m not sure I want to, either. My towel drops to the floor with a thud, even though I secured it over my chest. I realize that he tugged at it intentionally. I’m naked. My body, my soul, my heart. All my walls are down. Somewhere in my head, a red alarm blasts and my inhibitions are getting armed, ready to fight back. I’m trying to decode his expression. He is amused, irritated, and…playful? The mixture of emotions doesn’t make any sense.

“Mess with me, Followhill, and I will ruin you.”

“Not if I ruin you first.”

Review: The Best Kind Of Mistake

The Best Kind Of Mistake The Best Kind Of Mistake by Jasmin Miller
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was the sweetest! I was hooked right at the start and what I thought was going to be a predictable romance novella and I couldn't have been more wrong. Ember was a bright spark in this book right from the beginning with her pink hair and bright personality. I adored that this story took place in Santa Barbara, a place near and dear to me. I was able to immediately envision the setting and the scenery and Ember found her hero. I loved every minute of this story and Jasmin Miller is an author I will continue to follow!! This is a must read!

Review: If We Could Go Back

If We Could Go Back If We Could Go Back by Cara Dee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

I am raw, torn apart and put back together. If We Could Go Back is a beautiful story with so much emotion and heart. The journey of two people finding out what happiness means in your late 20s early 30s. This story gave me all the feels, and had so much depth. I am impressed with how many perspectives Cara Dee was able to give the reader, when the story was wholly told from the point of view of Bennet Brooks. This story takes place in pacific north west suburbia and definitely had the feel of being a relatable story to anyone in the country. It has me considering friendships differently and really makes you think about what might be happening behind closed doors. I loved this story and these characters are going to stay with me for a long long time.

I'm going to have a good long cathartic cry to help release the sad, angsty, happy, romantic and loving emotions this book stirred up, and it is going to feel so good!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book and I voluntarily give my review.

This book snuck up on me and swept me away! I fell hard for Kirk and Danielle. Dannielle is a strong independent woman who is in no way looking for a relationship (can you say foreshadowing?) but even knowing that when she meets her hero she would be a goner, I was not prepared for the perfect blend of sweet seductive romance and dirty sexy man. Kirk was the perfect blend of romance and kink and was infatuated with Danielle. I stayed up way past my bedtime reading this one because I couldn't put it down!

This story was hot hot hot! Unapologetically sexy, with enough kink to make a reader squirm. It put me a little on edge but was the perfect balance of taking me out of my comfort zone without feeing like it was too over the top. You don’t have to wait long to get to the good part because the whole thing is so so good! I definitely recommend this read!

Him Him by Sarina Bowen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was perfection, utter perfection! I was worried because the audiobook had been recommended to me by a variety of people through Aural Fixation and other groups on Facebook and Instagram. I thought it might have been hyped to much and I would be disappointed, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I am so glad I purchased this book because i will read and listen to it over and over again. The story of these two men, a little enemies to lovers a little friends to lovers as they discover themselves and each other.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily giving my review

This is the 4th book in the Indecency series and I feel that not only are the books starting to connect and my intrigue around the characters growing, but I also feel like Anabella Roscoff is really finding her voice and has created 3 more characters (Reece, Jacob & "Angel") who are multidimensional, complex and leave the reader wanting more. My favorite voice in this book was Reece, I want to know more about him and his brother he sounds like a man who could find his HEA, and I think that story will be amazing to hear. I hope we aren't done with these characters Parisian Affair Harper and Smith: Indecency Suites #4 left me wanting so much more.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ella Goode has done it again! Hit me right in the feels! I love an innocent heroine and Delilah was pure honest and heartwarmingly naive. Heading out to the big city and getting rescued by her own knight in shining armor who will never let her go. I loved loved this book and couldn’t put it down!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book and I voluntarily give my review.

How come I only have the option for 5 stars? I want to make it 10! I loved this book from page 1. It struck an immediate chord with me (yes I did intend that as a music pun). My husband is a composer and while I am not a professional singer, I do enjoy when we are able to share music as I also sing and play some guitar. Suffice to say I was immediately taken by Theo, and who can blame me for adoring this big growly possessive alpha. Shelby's introduction to the story was no less striking and while she was nervous about the speed their relationship progressed I enjoyed her confidence in Theo. Everyone needs to read this book!

Starlet Starlet by Fiona Davenport
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book and I voluntarily give my review.

I picked this book up in the middle of Saturday afternoon and Could Not Put It Down! I was instantly drawn in to this insta-love relationship. As with the first book in this series Muse the hero was growly and possessive and protective. He knew what he wanted and wasted no time in getting it. Austin knew Nicole was his girl before even meeting her, which made their first meeting hot and swoon worthy. Fiona Davenport wrote a hero who was Alpha without being a dick, and a heroine who enjoyed being taken care of but was still strong and stood up for herself. This is a must read if you are an Alexa Riley or Fiona Davenport fan. If you aren't this might be a good place to start :)

Review: Bad Saint: Volume One

Bad Saint: Volume One Bad Saint: Volume One by Monica James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished Bad Saint: Volume One by Monica James. My heart is pounding, my anxiety is amped up to 11 and I can't believe I have to wait til JULY!! for book two.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give this review.

I thought I had a good idea about what this book would be about from the teaser description. Willow is kidnapped on her honeymoon (that's not spoilers it happens right at the start). I was prepared for some angst, some violence and some suspense. What Monica James does with this book is nothing short than enthralling. I couldn't put this book down, I read way past my bedtime and the anxiety of not knowing what was happening to the girl being held captive made it very difficult to get through the work day. Saint, who for all intents and purposes might be categorized as our "hero" is anything but. The reader is drawn to him like Willow is, but there is also immense distrust from both. Just when I thought I had figured out the plot, the story took so many unexpected twists and turns I have been left reeling and anxious to know what will happen next.

This was an amazing ride!

Review: Pretty Reckless

Pretty Reckless Pretty Reckless by L.J. Shen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

Penn and Daria are EVERYTHING! This book sunk it's claws into me and I fear it will never let go. I am going to have a major book hangover from this one. I wish there was an option for more stars because this book checked all of my boxes: angsty, sexy, funny, emotional, relatable, accessible while still being a bit of a fantasy.

This book was enthralling, I ignored my family and read straight through the day because once I re-entered the world of Todos Santos, it was like i never left.

This is a must read! While it can be read as a standalone I do recommend reading Defy as well as the rest of the books in L.J. Shen Sinners of Saint series.

Review: Meet Cute

Meet Cute Meet Cute by Helena Hunting
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I want to be able to give this book more stars! This book was perfect! I became so emotionally invested that I both laughed out loud and I cried with the characters. I already knew that I am a Helena Hunting fan, as I have read and reread her books and she knocked this one out of the park. I really enjoyed the snips of LA we got to see. Since it is where I have lived my whole life, I was particularly glad to see the care she took in verifying the locations. I posted on her Facebook group how excited I became when it got to the part where the CVS was on the corner of Laurel and Ventura. There is actually a CVS in that location, and Helena replied that she verified the location with her friends in the area. It's a tiny thing in a book, but it shows how much she pays attention to the details. It is all the little details that make this book an absolute joy to read. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrators did a great job bringing life to these characters. I will definitely be rereading this one soon.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This has been my absolute favorite of the Indecency Suites so far! I am so sad this story is over! There is so much potential between these two characters who want to be together with the reference to outside forces keeping them apart, a debt to be paid and other barriers. I really hope they get a full novel I think it could be an epic love story!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily giving my review.

This story was short, and not so sweet ;) Looking for a night of indulgence, our heroine Lilly arranges to meet the man she has selected in a cabin in the woods. Cue the horror movie vibes: rustling trees, creaking floors, things that go bump in the night. This story involves themes that might be a trigger warning for some including sexual violence. Anabella Roscoff introduced potentially difficult themes in a way that had an air of danger but did not make me as a reader feel uncomfortable or that the heroine was victimized. I just wish we got more of their story, I felt that the book ended just as it was getting good. I would love to see these two get an unconventional HEA.

Mated to the Reaper Mated to the Reaper by Alexa Riley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I listened to the professionally narrated audiobook for free on the read me romance podcast and received a free arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Mated to the Reaper is a great paranormal romance with an Alexa Riley spin. It has all the possessiveness of a big alpha hero with the paranormal twist of a true mating bond. I love that these two were not only mated but fated and both so determined to get to each other. When reading the ARC I was very much looking forward to the quintessential epilogues and I was so happy to read about how these two were doing. Mated to the Reaper is a must! I also recommend reading the other books in this series The Virgin Blood Bundle: Complete Series

Review: Unzipped

Unzipped Unzipped by Lauren Blakely
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This might be my favorited Lauren Blakely Audio to date! And, i think that is saying something considering she had the idea to do Birthday Suit with a full cast. I laughed hysterically through multiple scenes, i had a big goofy smile on my face and i just loved the vulnerability in these two characters. They both were relationship novices, and while they made some predictable mistakes i really enjoyed that Lauren didn't have them fall down a rabbit hole when they occurred. They picked themselves up, learned from their mistakes and tried again. The 80s movie references were spot on an i love how the storyline itself seemed to walk in the footsteps of Some Kind of Wonderful. Andi Arndt and Joe Arden were spot on perfect with these characters... but i never expected anything less. If you are looking for a really enjoyable listen make sure to pick Unzipped!
