Review: Overtime

Overtime Overtime by Kat Mizera
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Patrick and Ellie are an adorable couple. Patrick is a player and has been taking full advantage of the perks of being a Hockey star at Moo U. Ellie is a genius and at 19 has 2 bachelors and is working towards her master's/Ph.D. These two have an instalove type spark. he's experienced and she is virginal and their relationship is sweet and hot. The story doesn't fall into the expected pitfalls and I was pleasantly surprised by the characters communication with each other and the plot twists in the story. I loved getting to see Patrick come into his own, especially after seeing him through his twin's eyes in the 4th book.

I think everyone will love Ellie and Patrick and I can't wait for you to devour this story.

Review: Inevitable

Inevitable Inevitable by Jenna Hartley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I could not be happier with this full length novel for Sumner and Jonathan. This story hooked me with the first line and I was unable to put it down until The End. An age gap romance between Sumner and her father's best friend Jonathan who is 23 years older than her. I adore a good age gap and this was one of the best. Sumner is confident and sure in her feelings for Jonathan, and Jonathan gives off all the best sexy older man vibes, with legitimate concerns about how their relationship will affect those around them. This story is raw and beautiful and more reasons as to why I adore Jenna Hartley's writing. I read the novella in Willow Winter's I Have Lived and Loved anthology and this extended info and story was so necessary, I didn't realize I needed it as much as I did.

Review: Pause

Pause Pause by Kylie Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kylie Scott continues to be one of my favorite authors. With this book she has infused emotion, self discovery and growth, a steamy and addictive romance, humor and a fiery heroine and alpha hero. Basically it is everything I could want from a romance book all packaged together and narrated by the incomparable Andi Arndt.

Anna wakes up from a coma after a bad car crash to find her life has imploded a bit. This story is about her journey of healing physically, mentally and emotionally. Leif was also involved in the accident and he and Anna forge a new friendship over their shared experiences. Both have trust issues and a deep respect for each other.

I enjoyed this book right from the start. I found Anna relateable and I really enjoyed watching her take back control of her life. She is decisive and holds her own so well when curve balls are thrown at her. Leif is completely swoon worthy. He is definite book boyfriend material and for some reason he reminded me a bit of Joe from Twist by Kylie Scott, not sure why but I feel like those two could have a beer together. I know all of her books are written in first person from the female perspective, but I would have loved to know what was going on in Leif's mind during parts of this book.

This book is another absolute winner for me Pause by Kylie Scott is a beautiful, funny, emotional romance that will sweep you off your feet!

Review: Earn Your Extra Credit

Earn Your Extra Credit Earn Your Extra Credit by Meghan Quinn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had a lot of feelings and emotions listening to this book! I wanted Brock and Stella's book once I met them in Book 1. I needed it actually, they were both obviously into each other but neither would act on it. You could tell in Arlo and Greer's story that Stella and Brock were both extremely stubborn. Now on an Hawaiian vacation together for a destination wedding for their friends and you just know the $hi7 is about to hit the fan.

I found myself angry at the characters in the book a lot, but I was never angry with the book. It's odd to think about but I loved listening to this book and it seems contradictory to say that I was angry at the characters but not the book but I guess that is the genius of Meghan Quinn. I was angry and disliked Ashley and Stella's Dad as well as her other family members through most or all of the book.
Stella is impulsive and selfish and a little unstable. Brock is obsessed and in love with Stella, and a little self sabotaging.

The problem is the two of them can't communicate to save their lives! It was maddening!! I found myself yelling at the audiobook because they both thought they were communicating but they weren't. It was like they were talking to each other in 2 different languages and then were shocked when they were misunderstood.

What was clear is that they are both passionate about each other and have a very strong friendship. This book had me laughing so hard I was crying and it also had me an emotional wreck. That is the skill of a good author!!

Keiko continued to be an amazing side character and comic relief and I hope she stick around in many more books.

Sebastian York was a perfect Brock Romero and Erin Mallon gave an amazing performance as Stella with perfect comedic timing! There were a couple moments where names were mispronounced by Mr. York, but he growled in my ear enough that I forgive him.

I completely enjoyed this audiobook, laughter and emotion, I was completely invested in every word.

I received an advance copy of the book and voluntarily give my review.

Review: Headhunter

Headhunter Headhunter by Kristen Proby
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I adore Ivie and Shane! I could not wait for this book! This book starts with a prologue of Ivie's past which is a heck of a shock and then the action starts right away. This book has all the suspenseful action mafia goodness, plus some military skills and knowhow that gives me major Caleb Montgomery flashbacks (iykyk).

The attraction between these two is palpable in book 1, Underboss. By the time they are in the same scene in this scene in Headhunter I thought my kindle might set fire. There was no game playing with these two and I. Am. Here. For. It. (insert claps). They both know how they feel about each other and their honest is so attractive. Shane has major protective instincts, but instead of trying to wrap Ivie in bubble wrap, he arms her to be self sufficient. The feminism in his approach is refreshing. Ivie is a take no prisoners, fierce heroine. She doesn't need a man to save her and she is powerful and strong. The crossovers that I expect and love from a With Me in Seattle story are present and like perfect Easter eggs.

I read this book in 2 sittings (would have been one but I needed sleep), not only was it a contemporary romance with a mafia spin, but it had the suspense and mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Review: Next In Line

Next In Line Next In Line by Amy Daws
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Next in Line is a funny and entertaining rom com and I fully enjoyed this listening experience. Sam and Maggie were a little bit of opposites attract and a whole lot of chemistry in my earbuds. Narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon this book had my attention right from the beginning with possibly the most unique meet cute I ever read. I mean who really meets the love of their life at Marv's Bait and Tackle? I laughed a lot at all the punny humor and definitely recommend this book!

Review: Hideaway

Hideaway Hideaway by Rachel Lacey
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Hideaway is a sweet second chance romance for high school sweethearts Phoebe and Taylor. They were each other's first loves, but Phoebe was still discovering her sexuality and broke both their hearts. In returning to Burlington, Phoebe rediscovers herself, her love of animals and Taylor. This story had low head for me but was a really nice story of friends and former lovers reconnecting after years apart.
