Review: Mantrum

Title: MANTRUM
Author: Jacob Chance
Genre: Romantic Comedy Standalone
Release Date: January 10, 2020 Cover Design: Sybil Wilson/Popkitty Design
Mantrum: An emotional outburst or an expression of anger by an adult man.
I’ve never understood the attraction women have for an alpha male, until I meet single father, Rex Winters.
Tall, chiseled, and persistent, he tries to avoid a parking ticket by asking me out to dinner. But I know men like him. He’s a repeat offender--habitually getting into trouble and always ready to sweet talk his way out of it.
But his charm won’t work on me.
Not when he’s the reason I’m forced to attend a six-week anger management class. And especially not when I find out all six feet two inches of Rex and his two hundred pounds of sexy muscle will be joining me every single time.
It doesn’t matter how much he flirts, or how attracted to him I am. I’m the girl who enforces rules for a living and he’s the guy who breaks them.
Do opposites really attract?
I guess we're about to find out.
Jacob Chance grew up in New England and still lives there today. He's a martial artist, a football fan, a practical joker and junk food lover.
A writer of sports romcoms and romantic suspense, he plans on providing you with many more stories.
HOSTED BY:
Mantrum Mantrum by Jacob Chance
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was my first book by Jacob Chance and it was in large part due to the cover! I loved the color and style, it grabbed me and I knew I had to read this book. I have heard of the Man-Cold but the Mantrum was new to me, and also 100% appropriate. Men can totally be big babies.

Rex has a short fuse and that is putting it mildly. When he meets his heroine Danika, she is giving him a parking ticket. You might think, "Oh I know where this is going", He's going to throw a mantrum over the ticket and get all angry. Now while he doesn't enjoy getting a parking ticket (who would) his anger is never directed at Danika, but at someone observing their interaction who films them. And a big Thank You to Jacob Chance for that one, because anger towards or violence towards women is extremely difficult for me to stomach as a reader. Anywho, They both end up in the same anger management class and their relationship begins to develop.

This book was light and funny, both characters had a strong wit and their banter was fun to read. It also dealt with some serious topics related to anger management and its consequences. While I enjoyed this book I felt that there were some unresolved issues in Danika's backstory, regarding her anger and her family. I feel like there is a part of that story that is missing. I also felt that while Rex's anger was addressed more thoroughly, the ending felt a little rushed and too simple. Overall this was an enjoyable read and I recommend it to fans of romantic comedies everywhere. I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

BOSS MAN BRIDEGROOM COVER REVEAL!!

MQBridegroomCover55x85_HIGH "Will you do me the greatest honor of all time and be my bridegroom?” she asks, hope in her eyes . . .    How did I get here? My assistant, bent on one knee, holding my hand, her expectant face waiting for an answer. Just . . . how? How did I go from being insulted by Charlee Cox to hiring her to be my assistant? How is it that she’s chaos in color - making me crazy and my life better at the same time? I never thought I would be staring down at her bright blue eyes begging me to go along with this ridiculous scheme I suggested. Yes, I suggested. Like the idiot I am, I thought hey, why not start an HR nightmare and have my assistant ask me to marry her? Confused? Don’t worry, so am I. But try to follow along, because this is how I became Boss Man Bridegroom.

Review: Reign of Brayshaw

Reign of Brayshaw Reign of Brayshaw by Meagan Brandy
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Long Live the Queen of Brayshaw! After months of anxiously waiting for the audio to release so I could complete this trilogy I could not wait to put in my ear buds and listen to the sultry sounds of Stephen Dexter and Jillian Macie (per the audio recording). This book was the perfect conclusion to this heart pounding and addicting series. That being said, it was not my favorite book of the trilogy and there were many points when I wanted to yell at Raven, Maddoc, Captain and Royce for the decisions they made! I felt the full spectrum of emotions while reading this book and there were times I was worried about the ultimate conclusion. I shouldn't have been worried though because Meagan Brandy wrote the perfect book to end this trilogy and the ending was everything I didn't know I needed.

Review: Trouble

Trouble Trouble by Adriana Locke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I could not have asked for a better way to return to Dogwood Lane! I love this town and all the stories in it and have been anxiously awaiting Penn's story. The bad boy player and group goofball, who will never be tied down, finally meets his match and it gives you all the feels. I am a total sucker for this kind of hero and my love for Penn was instant. Avery is making some life changes and I loved her commitment to herself and that she didn't cave or settle for anything less than what she knew she deserved. I also loved getting to see more of Matt and his personality in this story, he handed Penn's ass to him a few times and I hope he gets a story too, because he has unsuspecting Alpha written all over him. I anxiously awaited this book since meeting Penn in Tumble and it did not disappoint. This series is a must read!

I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley and voluntarily give my review.

Review: Crossing the Line

Crossing the Line Crossing the Line by Kendall Ryan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have loved every book in this series and Asher might just be the swooniest hockey hottie Kendall Ryan has written yet! Asher is suffering a concussion and groin injury, and off the ice for the rest of the season. The only good part about it is that he now has the chance to attend his grandmother's 85th Birthday and Family reunion, if he takes a nurse with him, that's the team trainer's stipulation. Not wanting to take some stranger home is is resigned to be a brooding bastard until he can get back onto his skates. Enter his friend Bailey, a medical student who has as couple weeks off before she begins her residency and thinks a week long vacation in Coranado California sounds superb. The chemistry with these two has me fanning myself. They are also adorable, sweet and funny together. Asher's family is full of characters and the book was over before I was ready. I want more of Asher and Bailey, and you should too. Let me know if you love them as much as I do.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

Review: The Fine Line Between Love and Hate: The Complete Series

The Fine Line Between Love and Hate: The Complete Series The Fine Line Between Love and Hate: The Complete Series by Ashley Erin
My rating: 0 of 5 stars

The Fine Line between Love and Hate is a classic Enemies to Lovers Trope. The story started out strong, but i found the middle of the book began to slow down for me. It felt like a lot of day to day information that didn't move the plot forward. The couple is sweet and you do care about their relationship, but i felt that some of the details were unnecessary to the plot. The narration was good and the male and female voices were distinct. Since this was a dual POV story with only one narrator there were times where I got a little confused. I enjoyed the small town this book took place in and the Gnomes were hysterical.

Review: Sugar Daddies

Sugar Daddies Sugar Daddies by Jade West
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book cam highly recommended from a bookstagrammer I follow and I was intrigued by the premise so it became my first read of 2020. I am fascinated by human behavior, so much so that it is literally my profession. In Sugar Daddies by Jade West, I feel like I got a true glimpse into another's lifestyle, one that I have no current exposure to. Katie, Carl and Rick are complex characters with a lot of depth, their relationship progression was natural and not forced and their concerns, reactions ad behaviors felt natural. It made this a very easy and enjoyable read. This book is definitely graphic, and while some of that was enjoyable there were some moments that were a little risqué or explicit for even me. That being said, novel was more than it's sex scenes they added to the story without becoming the novel. If you like books with a little edge and bite I definitely recommend.
