Title: Top Priority
Series: The Game Series, Book 1

Author: Cara Dee

Genre: MM Romance
Pairings: BDSM/Kink

Amazon Universal: http://mybook.to/cdw-toppriority

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/47814638-top-priority-the-game-series-1

Synopsis:

In a perfect world, Lucas West would meet someone in one of the BDSM communities he was active in, someone who ached for a Daddy Dom as much as Lucas longed for a Little to care for. They would date, play, build something that was just for them, and share a future together.

In a perfect world, Colt Carter would get through his next deployment and then move closer to DC where he could create at least a semblance of a personal life. He wanted something outside of the Air Force, something kinky, something worth leaving everything behind for eventually. For years, he’d kept his inner Sadist and Daddy Dom locked up, only letting him out to play on rare occasions.

In a perfect world…

In reality, Lucas and Colt met each other.

---

Top Priority is the first novella in The Game Series, a BDSM series where romance meets the reality of kink. Sometimes we fall for someone we don’t match with, sometimes vanilla business gets in the way of kinky pleasure, and sometimes we have to compromise and push ourselves to overcome trauma and insecurities. No matter what, two things are certain. This is not a perfect world, and life never turns out the way you planned.

Excerpt:

“It’s a funny coincidence,” I said, picking up a rib. “We have a lot in common all while…”

“We’re entirely different?” he chuckled.

I smiled and dipped my chin.

Two Daddy Doms, two gay Daddy Doms, at a hole-in-the-wall bar in Richmond in the middle of a storm—what were the odds?

I wasn’t supposed to be so drawn to him. It would never work.

We learned some minor tidbits about each other while we ate. He was thirty-six and happy his folks had moved to Virginia. His rank in the Air Force was Captain, though his buddies called him Top, which apparently was painted on the side of his headgear when he flew.

“Do I want to know the meaning?” I wondered.

His smirk made a reappearance. “I always end up on top.”

I snorted and wiped my mouth with my napkin.

“I’m a brand, baby.” Goddamn, he was too much. “It’s become a thing during training. Puns comin’ outta every orifice—‘get on Top,’ if they’re chasin’ me, ‘look at him topping from the bottom.’ Chuckles all ‘round.” He paused. “Sometimes you gotta dive and fly low to confuse the bandit’s radar. That’s topping from the bottom. Well, among other things.”

I was familiar with among other things.

As overbearing as he was, I couldn’t help but want to get to know more about him. I wanted to see him fly. It had to be a heady experience.

If I were half as animated and passionate about my job, I’d be lucky.

“Another thing we have in common,” I said. “I top from the bottom outside of kink too.” Or within kink, if I dated a submissive boy who enjoyed topping as well. I was still exploring, to be honest. I’d only discovered BDSM three years ago.

Colt raised his brows. “Oh, really. That’s…innerestin’.”

Was it?

Fuck.

Was it? This was just dinner. It wasn’t going to turn into a one-night-stand. I’d left those behind. I was fairly certain.

Christ, why did I go there? This one was on me, to boot. I’d brought it up.

To hell with it. I had no issues being blunt. “We’re not sleeping together,” I told him.

He smiled. “‘Course not.”

About Cara:

I'm often stoically silent or, if the topic interests me, a chronic rambler. In other words, I can discuss writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story—while a huge draw and constantly present—is secondary for me, because there's so much more to writing romance fiction than just making two (or more) people fall in love and have hot sex. There's a world to build, characters to develop, interests to create, and a topic or two to research thoroughly. Every book is a challenge for me, an opportunity to learn something new, and a puzzle to piece together. I want my characters to come to life, and the only way I know to do that is to give them substance—passions, history, goals, quirks, and strong opinions—and to let them evolve. Additionally, I want my men and women to be relatable. That means allowing room for everyday problems and, for lack of a better word, flaws. My characters will never be perfect.

Wait…this was supposed to be about me, not my writing.

I'm a writey person who loves to write. Always wanderlusting, twitterpating, kinking, and geeking. There's time for hockey and cupcakes, too. But mostly, I just love to write.

There is no way in hell she’s here.

My family isn’t that cruel. Right?

From my car, I try to gauge the number of bodies in my parents’ house through the windows. Ugh, I can’t see shit.

She can’t possibly be at family dinner. My family loves Harper, but they wouldn’t invite her, not after I called my mom the other day, telling her to put her matchmaking skills to rest. She just chuckled but reassured me she knew what she was doing. Whatever the hell that means.

I was very adamant about leaving Harper alone. The Knightlys can be too much at times, and I’m sure we’re the last thing she needs right when she’s trying to settle back into town.

Resigning myself to the inevitable, I retrieve my keys from the ignition and make my way to the front door. Hand on the doorknob, I take a deep breath and walk into the house I grew up in. The warm walls and carefully hung family pictures greet me first, followed by my family’s raucous laughter emanating from the back of the house.

I remove my shoes and hang my suit jacket on the coat hanger by the front door before cautiously making my way down the long hallway to the connected kitchen and large dining room. Ren, Griffin’s girlfriend, is the first to spot me. She gives me a small smile and a little wave. The rest of the family is scattered around the kitchen as usual, getting in my parents’ way as they try to finish up the dinner prep.

Griffin sees me next. “Ah, you finally decided to join us.” He checks his watch. “I think that was eight minutes in the car. Who had eight minutes?”

Reid raises his hand and hops off the counter, grabbing a bowl from the center of the table and pocketing the wad of cash inside. “I know him too well.” Reid pats me on the back and slips me a one-dollar bill. “Here, this is for you. Thanks for taking eight minutes to prepare yourself to come in the house. Daddy is going to buy a new pair of jeans.” He pats his pockets.

Ignoring everyone and their stupid bet, I pop the fridge door open and grab a water. Reid joins me, sticking his head in the fridge so I’m forced to look at him. “Aren’t you going to ask?”

“Ask what?” I grit out.

“If she’s here. I know that’s why you were hanging out in your car, debating if you should come in or not.”

My skin prickles, and I brace myself for the answer as I shut the fridge door. “Is she here?” I hiss.

Slowly, Reid smiles and nods. “Yup, she’s in the bathroom.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?” I angrily squeeze my water bottle, nearly popping the top off. “Why? Why is she here?”

Reid shrugs. “I don’t know, maybe because she wants to be here.”

“Who invited her? Was it Mom?” I don’t wait for an answer. Instead, I walk over to the culprit, who’s hovering over the stove, stirring a huge pot of chili.

“Oh, hey, sweetie. Cornbread is in the oven, honey is in the crock, and I also got tortilla chips because I know how much you like crumbling them in your chili.”

“Mom, why did you invite her? I told you to leave her alone, to leave usalone.”

“What are you talking about?” My mom looks me up and down and then goes back to the chili.

“Harper. I asked you not to invite Harper.”

The bathroom door opens, and Jen pops out, rubbing her hands together. “Did he come in yet?” Her eyes light up as she spots me. “What time was it?”

“Eight minutes. Reid won.”

Disappointed, she snaps her fingers. “Damn, I for sure thought I was going to win.”

Confused, I turn back to my mom. “Harper isn’t here?”

“No, of course not. I wouldn’t invite her so early. She needs time to settle. What made you think she was here?”

I whip around to find Reid leaning against the kitchen wall, arms crossed and with a giant grin on his face. I point at him. “You better run, because I’m going to fucking kill you.”

Like a bolt of lightning, he takes off, and I chase after him, nothing but pure murder on my mind.

Excerpt:

Right now I wanted to just be here in silence with my best friend. And somehow, I don’t know how, but Luna sensed it. So we sat there for what felt like two hours but was probably a lot less, until I opened my eyes again. Her eyes were closed, too. I watched her for a while.

When she opened her eyes, it felt like she took something away from me.

“Let’s jump,” she said.

“I’m quite fond of my limbs, Moonshine.”

“Stop being such a big baby.”

“Big, quarterback baby who just finished a football season in one piece and would like to keep all his body parts intact.”

She crawled out of the treehouse and settled on the branch. It was thick, but I doubted it could carry my muscular ass for more than a few seconds before snapping. I rolled my eyes and settled next to her. She slipped her hand in mine.

“Three, two, one.”

It was a short, sweet way down.

Review: Broken Knight

Broken Knight Broken Knight by L.J. Shen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a masterpiece. I read this book in one sitting, instantly downloading it the moment I found out that it was live. If you look at my bookish social media (LJs sassy sparrows, spoilers room, bookstagram) you will see that emotions are running high with this one. In short, LJ Shen wrecked every single reader with this book. I don't think anyone who reads this story will ever be the same again. It is a true testament to her incomparable storytelling and writing that she can create something that so many people connect with, and respond to. Other reviews will tell you summaries and favorite scenes, maybe even spoilers and projections of future books. If you are reading this review I hope you take away the following: This book cannot be missed. Itt will touch something in you that will change you, that will make you think, and ultimately leave a lasting impact on you as a human.

Review: Sink or Swim

Sink or Swim Sink or Swim by Tessa Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily give my review. Andrew Prince is a man who's story we have been teased with in the two previous books in this series. It was obvious in Mouth to Mouth that his attraction for his neighbor and best friend Jiya was off the charts, and as the Prince brothers' stories progressed, I anxiously awaited the climax that I knew was coming. I was not disappointed! Andrew and Jiya are cataclysmic. Their chemistry, their attraction and their commitment to each other took my breath away. Tessa Bailey's signature dirty talk also comes through loud and clear adding an edge to what is a truly epic love story. The characters in this story are so tangible that if i every travel to Long Beach NY, i will expect to see them in the lifeguard tower. Thank you Tessa Bailey for bringing these characters into our lives.

Review: The Assist

The Assist The Assist by Rebecca Jenshak
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the new adult college jock themes in this story. It was fun and witty and the characters didn't fall into (all) the stereotypical character tropes. These jocks were smart, and considerate and Blair the heroine was confident and independent. Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke were a great pair. I find that sometimes i can't wait for one narrator's chapter to end so i can hear the other, but in the case of these two i never had that reaction. This book caught my attention only a few minutes in and i couldn't stop listening. I can't wait to hear the other characters stories, especially Gabby! I received a code for this audiobook and voluntarily give my review.

What an amazing conclusion to the Dirty Mafia Duet. I literally could not stop listening. The twists and turns were unpredictable and I love how it blends seamlessly into Meghan March’s other series. I didn’t realize I needed this story so badly.

Review: Top Priority

Top Priority Top Priority by Cara Dee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cara Dee has the amazing ability to tell a story with kink and infuse it with heart. I was immediately drawn into the story between Colt and Lucas, and became invested to the point where I couldn't put the book down. The story was more focused on the relationship between these two and their whirlwind attraction and romance. She also lays the groundwork for an intricate series with a variety of character options and stories. I can't wait to see how this story arc grows. Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.
During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.
Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Review: Come Back to Bed

Come Back to Bed Come Back to Bed by Kayley Loring
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Come Back to Bed is a love story between the story of a free spirit artist Bernadette and Daisy a Boston terrier. Their love is instant and true and it is a beautiful story... okay you got me, clearly there are abs on the cover of this book and th story is about more than just the love between a woman and a dog. Daisy happens to have a pet human, the straight laced and strikingly handsome Matt McGovern Esquire. This story was an enemies to lovers, neighbors/room mates, no strings arrangement story that developed into so much more. The narration was wonderful, Teddy Hamilton and Makenzie Cartwright blended together seamlessly, and this story had just enough tension to keep the plot moving without being angsty. The humor of the writing had me laughing out loud more than once. I definitely recommend. I received a copy of this audiobook and voluntarily give my review

Review: UnLucky in Love

UnLucky in Love by Cary Hart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

This book was a great summer rom com. Fun and flirty characters, some awkward humorous scenarios, just enough of the "will they won't they" tension to keep it interesting, and some supporting characters who I hope will get their own books. This was a quick read for me, and I read it in 2 sittings, once I started the only reason I put it down was because of sleep. My favorite character was obviously Kramer, that bird made me laugh out loud multiple times. This was my first book by Cary Hart, but with her wity banter and creative scenarios it will definitely not be my last.
