Review: Heartsong

Heartsong Heartsong by A.E. Wasp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sean and Cooper are an unlikely pair and their love story surprised me.

Sean is from West Virginia, and while he is out, he is far from comfortable in his skin and with his sexual identity. Sean has survived trauma and is learning how to deal with it. I found Sean's story to be original and heart-wrenching, creative and raw. I imagine there are many who have similar experiences to him, but this is the first time I have seen it represented in romance.

Cooper is a military veteran and an amputee, he is grumpy and a loner and all sorts of pouty man bear goodness. He is not embarrassed or ashamed about his missing leg, but he recognizes the ways it impedes his life.

What I love most is that Sean and Cooper accept each other exactly as they are. They fill in each others gaps and are able to give the other space and comfort. I was instantly hooked on this story and I highly recommend.

A Kiss for a Kiss A Kiss for a Kiss by Helena Hunting

I loved this story so much. It stole my heart and I was an emotional wreck. I am not one to cry when reading but this had me blubbering like a baby and smiling and laughing. I will definitely be going back for a full reread.

Review: Out of the Blue

Out of the Blue Out of the Blue by Kathryn Nolan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cope and Serena gave me all they yearning tension I was craving! I think this was my first surfer romance and the reader really gets a taste for the danger and intensity of surfing and the respect that surfers have for the ocean. But that was merely the stage for the second chance, married couple romance that was fire from the very beginning. Copeland hides some truths in order to be Serena's bodyguard, and their forced proximity stirs up lots of old feelings. This book did contain lots of tropes but they all worked together brilliantly. I was a little worried about the suspense resolving itself appropriately but was pleased with the way that story line was addressed.

Kathryn Nolan writes some steamy steamy spice and this story is no different. I am surprised i dont have burns on my fingers from the heat on those pages! I hope everyone goes and meets Cope and Serena and falls in love with their love!

Review: Fake

Fake Fake by Kylie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I usually prefer a romance novel written in dual perspective. I love to see the other side, what is going on in the Hero and Heroine's heads. Kylie Scott always writes single perspective and it is ALWAYS ALWAYS perfect. I found Norah relatable, and real. She takes a chance on a unique opportunity and roles with it while staying true to herself. Patrick is mysterious. I was always interested in what was happening in his head, but not knowing only made me more intrigued.

Im not always a fan of the fake relationship trope but Kylie Scott gets it right on the money with Fake!
I was definitely reminded of another fake relationship trope book of Kylie's Play. But while that one was goofy this one was heartfelt and there was nothing funny about the friendship Patrick and Norah build. This story didn't fall into any of the traditional and predictable trope plot progressions that bother me about this type of story. I loved every second of this book and read it from cover to cover in one sitting.

Review: So Not My Type

So Not My Type So Not My Type by Amelia Kingston
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The banter in this book was everything. The back and forth bickering and sarcasm what me rolling. Jackie was a firecracker. It is obviously a front to protect herself but that girl might as well be wrapped in barbed wire. She is angry and moody and no one should want to be around her. Enter Eddie and he is so content to slowly wear her down. He gives as good as he gets and it may be the first time that Jackie has had a worthy opponent. Their pseudo enemies to lovers banter and bickering had me cracking up. I read this book in a day and could not put it down. We get some follow up on Elizabeth and Austin too which is always fun. I could listen to Eddie and Jackie bicker all day, I loved the teasing in their relationship and think that fans of enemies to lovers and romantic comedies will enjoy this book.

Fake by Kylie Scott Release Blitz

“FAKE is an absolute delight . . . for every woman who wished her celebrity crush would fall madly in love with her. Romance gold from one the genre’s best!”
— Naima Simone, USA Today Bestselling Author

Fake, an all new grumpy megastar meets quirky and lovable waitress Hollywood romance from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott, is available now!

He walks the red carpet. She’s more familiar with vacuuming one.

When a scandal tarnishes the reputation of hot as hell A-lister, Patrick Walsh, he needs a reputation rescue, pronto.

Enter waitress Norah Peers–a nobody who’s average with a capital A. She’s available, dependable, and has sworn off men for the rest of her natural born life. In other words: the perfect match for a no-strings fake romance.

For the right amount of money, she can avoid waitressing and play the part of his dependable down-to-earth girlfriend. What she can’t avoid–dammit–is the growing steam between them.

But being hounded by the paparazzi and having her life dissected on social media is a panic attack in the making. And while Patrick might be a charming rogue on screen, in real life he’s a six-foot-two confusing, gorgeous, brooding grump, who keeps her at a distance . . . but also makes her feel like this bond between them might be more than just an act.

Being dumped on cue should be no big deal. Except being fake with Patrick is the realist relationship Norah has ever had. What’s a girl to do, but flip the script, and ask for a re-match made in Hollywood?
