Review: The Secret Plan

The Secret Plan The Secret Plan by Cara Dee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every book in this series is just as good or better than the last and this book is no exception. A wonderful Christmas story with all of our friends from House McLean ;) This story is told from the perspective of Kit and Colt. What I loved most was the vulnerability we see from Colt. He's always been the big tough fighter pilot daddy sadist, and with his POV in this story you get extra insight into him as a part of his dynamic with Kit and Lucas. On top of the continuation of Lucas, Kit and Cole's story, we also get to spend time at a holiday party with our favorite Doms and Subs. I read this book with a huge smile on my face. I felt like I was sitting on the couch with the whole crew, it felt like hanging out with friends.

Review: Showmancing the Bone: A Warmington Players Novella

Showmancing the Bone: A Warmington Players Novella Showmancing the Bone: A Warmington Players Novella by Erin Mallon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Erin Mallon never disappoints! Novella's are tricky, trying to tell a whole story in such a short period of time, especially a romance, can go very right or miss the mark. Erin delivered a romance with depth, humor, wacky characters and a completely captivating and entertaining story. As a former theater kid, I instantly connected with Wendy and her love of the theater. While she has loved the theater she has only ever worked in the FOH and with this new opportunity to be a stage manager (for a play that probably shouldn't be produced) she comes back into contact with a hottie from her past. This story had so many humorous and punny moments, amazing restaurants, that made me hungry for soup and cereal. This is a clean romance, but it has all the wonderful romance feelings that I crave and need in romance, that I did not miss the spice. This story is top notch, and when you add in narration by the author Erin Mallon, it elevates everything to the next level. This story brings me so much joy, I know it will be one I listen to again and again. I hope we get more stories about these characters in the future!

Review: Sharkbait

Sharkbait Sharkbait by Erin Mallon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have loved every book and play of Erin Mallon's that I have read or listened to, and Sharkbait is no different! That said, I never know what I am going to get with an Erin Mallon creation. In the case of Sharkbait I got a laugh out loud comedy with a lot of heart. Louise is an interesting character. She is trying to learn how to be an independent woman, and follow her dreams, while still discovering them. She is also recovering from her childhood trauma, of having to raise herself because her parents were not present. She has some funny quirks that cause awkwardly humorous moments and she goes through a lot of growth through this book. James is a bartender at the beginning of the book, a one night stand for independent Louise, but he is so much more. A fascinating entrepreneur in his early 30s who has lived more life than those in their 60s. He is a modern day single dad to the coolest kid, and an instantly lovable romance hero. This is a romance where the hero falls first and pursues the heroine, and I was rooting for him the whole time!

This book will give you warm fuzzies, while you laugh out loud. Narrated by Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton, these two perfectly capture not only Louise and James, but also the side characters who we have met in previous books! I loved the dual perspective and dual narration in this book, getting James' POV was such an important addition to the story.

I highly recommend reading or listening to Sharkbait, and if you haven't read the other 2 books in the Natural History series, what are you doing with your life? Go read them too! right away!

Review: Hostile Takeover

Hostile Takeover Hostile Takeover by Cara Dee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hostile Takeover Indeed! Franklin and Jack stormed in, took hold of my emotions and it was a whirlwind! Having met Franklin before, with Tate and Kingsley, I was unsure about a full story about him. Damn you Cara Dee for doing it again. This book was unpredictable and hot in the best possible way. The relationships in The Game series are refreshing and not what you typically find in a romance. With Jack and Franklin, there is an age gap, with a younger dom, older daddy, but instead of being two Doms, Franklin is more submissive. They dynamic is not what you typically see when reading romance and the behavior of it all fascinates me. Jack is such a confident character through Franklin's eyes, while you hear all of Franklin's insecurity through his internal monologue. These two tackled a lot of physical and emotional ground in a short period of time and I loved every second of it. I can't wait for more of them! I was so angry when it ended, because I was not ready for the last page!

Review: Prepared

Prepared Prepared by Cara Dee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am struggling to find the words to describe just how perfect Prepared is. If you have read any of my other reviews on Cara Dee books, you may notice a trend in my praise of her character development. She has a way of creating characters that instantly draw you in so you are wholly invested. In Prepared she has connected characters from across her works to celebrate the wedding of Gray and Darius. The cross overs, teasing, joking, Easter Eggs and inside innuendo was unmatched. It was not just a love letter to Gray and Darius, but almost an homage to their journey and how it has a connection to almost all of Cara Dee's work. This is absolutely not a standalone you must read books 1-5 in the Auctioned series before reading this book. I read this whole book with a huge smile across my face. I was so excited to devour this story, and at the same time reading slowly so it would not end. These characters feel so real to me, and I could not be more thrilled for Darius and his knucklehead to finally have their HEA.

Wet By Cambria Hebert Release Blitz!

Title: WET
Series: Westbrook Elite #1
Author: Cambria Hebert
Genre: College Sports Romance
Release Date: July 12, 2022

BLURB

Making decisions I regret is basically a hobby.
So I guess it really wasn’t that surprising when I went out on a date with an Elite.
And then he tried to assault me.
I might be small, but I’m not meek. I fought him off… then went straight to the dean.
He didn’t believe me. No one does.
And now my date from hell is in revenge mode, and I somehow end up in the campus pool.
Did I mention I can’t swim?
Lucky for me, a knight in shining armor saves me from drowning.
Except he’s not wearing shining armor. He’s naked.
And he’s also Elite.
Seriously, what is up with these Elite swimmers?
Of course, I have no intention of ever seeing his very good-looking, naked highness again.
Elite obviously can’t be trusted.
Until he wraps me in his hoodie and promises to believe me.
Now I’m drowning again—but this time in his enigmatic cobalt eyes and addictive touch.
My only oxygen is him. I think I maybe could fall in love.
But will he keep his promise when I tell him the truth about his teammate?
Or will trusting Ryan with my heart and my life be just another decision to regret?

EXCERPT

“Aurora Coin, who goes by Rory but hates it when I call her that, so I call her Carrot, which she says she also hates but really secretly loves.”
I rolled my eyes. Why is he so charming?
“Who is also really good with a camera, grew up in Chicago, acts like a rottweiler even though she’s a chihuahua, uses all my shampoo, and insults my Jeep and my clothes.”
“Are you trying to ask me out or make a bullet point presentation?” I wondered.
He mock-gasped, pressing a hand to his chest. “I’m being romantic.”
“Some of these things sound like insults,” I pointed out.
He chuckled, and damn, if it didn’t make my stomach flutter. Shuffling forward, he reached for my hand, entwining our fingers. “But they’re not. They’re just some of the reasons I want you. You and only you. Be my girlfriend. My only.”

Review: WET

WET WET by Cambria Hebert
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A fantastic new adult romantic suspense I could not put down! I read this book in two sittings, and it would have been one if sleep and work didn't get in the way. This story gave me all the Hashtag series vibes I've been missing in my life. Rory and Ryan are my favorite kind of instalove! They are thrust into each other's lives quite forcefully and their whirlwind lust filled connection embodies young love. I felt all the emotions that they go through and it gave me all the feels. I also loved the side characters that were introduced in this stand alone! Jamie, Wes, Maxen and Madison, were fantastic supporting characters and I look forward to their stories! I hope this is not the last book for Rory and Ryan! I would love to read more about them and their future.

This book has content warnings at the start of the book and I recommend readers check them prior to starting this book as it deals with sensitive topics.

I absolutely loved this book and can't wait for everyone to meet Ryan, Rory and the Westbrook family.

Review: The Crash

The Crash The Crash by Skye Warren
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a fun and romantic prequel novella setting up for an interesting story. I enjoyed meeting the characters and getting some background information. This book doesn't have spice but does have tension. And it has left me wanting more, I can't wait for the rest of Carter and June's story.

Review: From Lukov with Love

From Lukov with Love From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have had this book on my TBR for a while and finally came around to listening to it. It was my first Mariana Zapata and what they say is true this is a sloooow burn. I found some of the book dragged a little but once I got into the story I couldn't put it down

Review: Love Lessons

Love Lessons Love Lessons by Sarina Bowen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Crikey! Vera and Ian are a match made in Brooklyn Hockey Heaven!!! This book is a little bit enemies to lovers, neighbors with a grudge turns dating coach while on vacation in Italy. Taking place during hockey's off season you get to see some of the behind the scenes between seasons, but this is not a romance that takes place on the ice. I wish this was a picture book, with visuals of all the clothing. Vera is a stylist (who we meet in Shenanigans) and the fashion is such a big part of this book.

When Vera's ex reappears in her life, Ian becomes Vera's seduction coach, to teach her how to make him regret leaving her behind and win him back. Ian and Vera's banter quickly turns into the hottest sexual tension. It is clear early on that the feelings are developing, and it amps up the heat between these two. I love some of the creativity in the bedroom scenes. There is a unique quality to them that you don't often get in romance novels (and thats all I will say about that).

This is a 4.5 star read for me with 5 star narration. There were some parts of this book which were similar in nature to Shenanigans, the previous book in this series, and I was a little disappointed with the repetition. There were also some pieces of the characters back story that were touched upon but I think if more time was spent on them it would have enhanced the connection between Vera and Ian. That said I could not put this book down, and I never wanted it to end. I loved getting time with some of our favorite couples on vacation including Castro and Heidi Jo and Neil Drake and Charlie.

I loved every moment of this audiobook. The casting of Joe Arden and Rose Dioro was perfection. Joe brought out the husky confidence and internal insecurity in Ian and Rose was the perfect blend of independent fashionista and single girl seeking a second chance with the wrong guy.
